“When You Peep Deep Into My Eyes” Translated Version of “Tumi Suwa Jetia” – An Assamese song by Zubeen Garg

Ankita Deka Bora’s translation of Tumi Suwa Jetia,
an Assamese song sung by the celebrated singer Zubeen Garg hailing from Assam

Zubeen Garg’s Tumi Suwa Jetiya (Original Rendition)

When you
Peep deep into my eyes,
Dropping lightening,
You break my sky high..
Sunbeams smile
Flowers bloom,
As you clatter like a stream,
Spring sparkles
Storm struggles,
As you touch tender cream…
Within you revitalize my life..
Within you pretty wonders rife..
Those cloudy hair
Waves in the air
Lights in the laughter
As if Xunaru petals fly.
In those soggy stare,
Millions of stars glitter.
Lullaby of words
Those scarlet lips shower..
Dream issues in my heart
Your sketch in my eyes.
O’ Lord,
Losing all,
I’ll be luminated in your love..
As I open my morning eyes,
As I spend my bare afternoons
And silent evenings,
I wait hoping for you only.
The mist moistened Jasmines
That’s welcoming you in my entrance
Will turn to gold
If you put your pace.
Step by step you’re too near,
Floods of gaity in my heart here..
Now the distant sky
Drops down slipping on my shoulder…
